What does sidescan sonar mean?
Sidescan is the type of sonar, it refers to the way the beam scans - looking to both sides, rather than looking forward whcih is the usual path for underwater sonar. Using this sidescan technology, it forms the image created by physically moving the sonar head - the towfish - over the seabed. Sidescan is unique in that no other type of sonar can produce a picture of the seabed and the objects on it that's as easily interpreted.
As a company that prides ourselves on innovation, Northern Diver are delighted to work with C-Max, a company where everything is designed by their staff in-house. From the display to recording, hardware to towfish software, all the systems and equipment C-Max sell are developed and produced by C-Max staff.
Every sonar that leaves the C-Max factory has been tested at sea.
